If you have been following the SIPP Index at all, you would notice that Rick Santorum has been at the bottom of the Index since its inception. If you haven’t been following the SIPP Index, you should.

What Rick Santorum Does Right

Rick Santorum utilizes Facebook primarily as an information distribution platform, as well as, a recruiting platform. Of all the candidates, Rick Santorum posts the most. His posts usually include a way to “Join team Santorum,” whether it’s with a link to a donation site or a link to join an event. His posts deliver information to his followers about his campaign’s progress and also give them a reminder that they can invite their Facebook friends to join as well. By the sheer quantity of his posts, he provides a consistent reminder of his presence to his followers which promote confidence and his determination to see his goals through. Another benefit to posting in the volume that Rick Santorum does is simple; the more posts, the more opportunity for acquisition of new supporters.

What Rick Santorum Does Wrong

Rick started off slow and the visibility of his website across the internet hasn’t helped him with picking up the pace. The majority of the other major contenders for the GOP election had a head start as far as internet presence was concerned. The other candidates’ prior popularity gave them a stronger base to build off of in the social media arena and provided them with the majority of the social media market share leaving Rick Santorum in a cloud of smoke. Rick Santorum’s website has the lowest SEO score of all the remaining candidates. With improvement to his SEO, Rick could track more unique visitors to his site and give his campaign a much needed boost.

Where Does Rick Santorum Stand

Now, Rick Santorum finds himself leading the GOP race even though he holds only 17.7 percent of the internet market share. The highest percent market share Rick Santorum held came on January 28th, 2012 when he held 19.2%, 11% behind Newt Gingrich. He has seen a consistent increase in his market share since December 13th 2011, with only slight drops. This increase indicates that his campaign is making progress. With a stronger base on the internet and his continued success in the polling, we should see Rick Santorum move up on the SIPP Index over the next couple of weeks.
