Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America is based in Chesapeake, Virginia. They are a subsidiary of Sumitomo Industries and a global leader in power transmissions and control solutions. Corporately, SMA competes in the top 15 industries in the world.
Sumitomo hired Spartan Internet to create a new web presence in order to provide a more targeted, consistent experience for each of their customers, prospects and markets in the Americas. The company wanted to provide enhanced product information, as a means of sharing knowledge, both internally and externally.
As a global brand, Sumitomo wanted their new website to integrate their strategies and services throughout the Americas: North, Central and South America.
Spartan Internet developed a comprehensive set of strategies for their website, intranet and extranet, to meet SMA's business objectives. A navigation and design template was developed to utilize relational content management tools, and present international users with targeted content and messaging. This information architecture met the needs of diverse user groups, (with different needs and desires for knowledge), allowing them to intuitively browse SMA's vast product and service offerings.
Spartan Internet developed long term and short term strategies for leveraging online marketing tactics to outperform the competition. This included presenting targeted messaging to users actively seeking Sumitomo, driving visitors to the most relevant site location, and strengthening the brand positioning by communicating the experience, expertise and knowledge that Sumitomo represents.
